Kardinal Hall. a local restaurant here in Charlottesville, VA is looking for a part-time bookkeeper, 20 - 25 hours weekly. We are located on 722 Preston Ave. Our ideal candidate understands double entry bookkeeping, and has experience in bookkeeping.

Responsibilities for Bookkeeper

• Perform payroll functions in an accurate and timely manner
• Maintain and balance the general ledger in an accurate, complete, and up-to-date manner
• Perform all activities related to the accounts payable function including reviewing, coding, and processing payments
• Perform account receivable functions including invoicing, deposits, collections, and revenue recognition
• Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Bookkeeping, Accounting, Finance, or related field *or* 2+ years relevant experience working in accounting, bookkeeping
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of GAAP
• Applicant should have strong bookkeeping skills, as well as experience with Excel and Word.
• Familiarity with QuickBooks online a plus, as this is what we use.
• Perform light HR work, (making sure employee deductions are correct, onboarding new employees, etc)
• Perform monthly reconciliations on bank accounts and credit cards.
• Pay charged invoices weekly.
• Answering the phone and directing inquiries. Some people skills required.
• Working with our event coordinator to reconcile payments made to house accounts.
• Restaurant knowledge a plus.
