Job Description

Black Bear Talent is seeking a dependable and hands on Maintenance Technician for our client in Salem, VA to support the daily upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment for our client. This role focuses on general maintenance, basic repairs, and preventive care to ensure facilities remain safe, functional, and well maintained. The ideal candidate is comfortable handling a wide variety of maintenance tasks and takes pride in keeping property in good working order.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 4:30 pm

Responsibilities

• Perform general handyman and maintenance tasks including basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and structural repairs
• Complete routine inspections and address maintenance needs to prevent larger issues
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools, machines, and facility equipment to ensure reliable operation
• Maintain interior and exterior areas through painting, patching, minor repairs, and general upkeep
• Assist with light grounds maintenance such as cleaning, basic landscaping, and seasonal tasks
• Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and efficient manner
• Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work environment
• Document completed work, maintenance activities, and materials used as needed

Qualifications

• General knowledge of building maintenance and handyman repair practices
• Experience performing basic repairs and preventive maintenance on equipment and facilities
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot common maintenance issues
• Comfortable with painting, patching, and general property upkeep
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members
• Reliable, detail oriented, and safety focused
