Job Description

Marketing and Events Manager

The Wynwood Business Improvement District (BID) represents one of the most dynamic and creative neighborhoods in the country. Our mission is to enhance the district’s public realm, support local businesses, and position Wynwood as a global destination for art, innovation, and culture. Through public space management, policy advocacy, economic development, marketing, and events, the BID works to improve the quality of life and economic vitality of the area for all who live, work, and visit here.

Position Summary

The Marketing and Events Manager will play a critical role in ensuring Wynwood remains a vibrant, engaging, and dynamic destination for residents, workers, and visitors alike. This position is responsible for producing distinctive events and programs throughout the year that foster community engagement, drive visitation, and amplify the district’s global reputation.

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in event production (from large-scale festivals to intimate activations), sponsorship development, and public space programming. Working closely with partners, vendors, and internal stakeholders, the Marketing and Events Manager will lead the planning and execution of a comprehensive annual events strategy that reflects Wynwood’s creative spirit while promoting safety, inclusion, and economic growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Marketing & Communications

  • Collaborate with the BID’s external Marketing/PR firm to develop and execute annual marketing and communication strategies.
  • Oversee content creation and curation for the BID’s website, social media platforms, newsletters, and digital campaigns, with the support of a Marketing Intern.
  • Ensure cohesive brand messaging and visual consistency across all platforms and collateral.

Events Management

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of major public events aligned with key cultural moments and festivals (e.g., Art Basel, Pride, Halloween, World Cup 2026)
  • Create memorable and engaging smaller scaled programming such as street fairs, markets, pop-ups, and community celebrations that encourage workers and residents to explore the neighborhood.
  • Foster creativity and innovation to continuously elevate Wynwood’s standing as a global hub for art, culture, and experiential programming.
  • Manage all aspects of event production, including permitting, vendor coordination, budgeting, logistics, and on-site operations.
  • Secure both in-kind and revenue-generating partnerships with sponsors, brands, artists, and local stakeholders to expand programming opportunities.
  • Monitor and report on key event metrics, including attendance, economic impact, and community feedback.
  • Ensure all events meet BID standards for safety, accessibility, inclusivity, and community impact.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as a point of contact and liaison to local businesses, property owners, residents and community organizations.
  • Collaborate with local businesses to promote their initiatives and build brand awareness for Wynwood.
  • Attend Wynwood Board meetings and community meetings; represent the BID at public forums when relevant.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Event Management, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in marketing, programming and/or event planning.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and visual communication skills. Graphic design or video editing skills a plus.
  • Strong command of digital marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Canva, Hootsuite, Google Analytics) and content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, balance budgets, solve problems creatively, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Energetic, strategic, self-motivated, and collaborative with strong attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends for events and activations.
  • Passion for placemaking, community development, urban revitalization, and supporting local businesses.
  • Experience working with a Business Improvement District, municipal agency, nonprofit, or similar organization is preferred.
  • Familiarity with permitting and city agency processes is highly desirable.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) skills are a plus.
