What To Expect
Tesla Motors is seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to join the Vehicle Engineering Team, focusing on the design of the Supermanifold Assembly, a critical component of the Tesla heat pump system. This role involves creating innovative heating and cooling components and systems that prioritize efficiency, performance, reliability, and safety. Collaboration with quality, service, manufacturing, validation, and purchasing teams, as well as external suppliers, will be essential to deliver outstanding vehicles that redefine the automotive industry. What You'll Do Design and package thermal system components to meet system and vehicle requirements while optimizing for efficiency, cost, weight, manufacturability, and serviceabilityManage suppliers and projects to ensure timely program deliverables within budgetDevelop component and system-level requirements based on vehicle-level requirements and customer experienceLead the creation of component specifications, DFMEA, and other technical design documentsDevelop and execute component and subsystem design verification plans and test methods to validate adherence to requirementsEnsure vehicles conform to all motor vehicle safety standards governing thermal system operationSupport vehicle programs through the entire lifecycle, including spec development, prototype builds, vehicle testing, and production
What You'll Bring Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experienceMinimum 1 year of full-time or internship experience with a strong track record in design and buildingDemonstrated ability to solve complex design problems under tight timing constraintsStrong design, packaging, and 3D modeling skills with proficiency in CATIA preferredPassion for electric vehicles and energy efficiencyAdaptability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environmentKnowledge of mechanics, structure design, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics

Expected Compensation
$92,720 - $206,520/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
