Job Description

As a Respite Nurse, you’ll provide one-on-one care to children with complex healthcare needs in the comfort of their homes or within the community. This role is designed to support families by giving them a much-needed break from the daily responsibilities of caregiving. Whether caregivers need time to attend an event, run errands, schedule appointments, or simply rest, your care helps make that possible. 

Where You’ll Work  

• Ames or Nevada

When You’ll Work  

• Primarily afternoons, evenings, and during the day on weekends. Can be regularly scheduled or as needed.

What You’ll Do  

• Provide one-on-one nursing support in the home or community
• Interact with the child and participate in fun activities.
• Complete electronic documentation and paper MARS
• Skills needed: medication administration, g-tube nutrition, trach cares, experience with ventilators. 

What You’ll Need  

• Current valid RN/LPN license in Iowa
• Valid driver’s license with two or fewer violations in the past three years
• Active BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Experience working with children with special health care needs preferred
• Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing and speaking the English language
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, be mobile within the assigned work area, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.
