About Kents Hill School
Founded in 1824, Kents Hill School is one of the oldest independent co-educational schools in the United States. Nestled on a sprawling 400-acre campus in the heart of Central Maine, Kents Hill is a vibrant community of 225 boarding and day students, alongside 90 dedicated faculty and staff who support the school, its programs, and the student experience. Position Overview

With a start date of January 5, 2026, this position will join a team of educators striving to instill curiosity and love of learning in students while advancing the Kents Hill curriculum and their own teaching practices. This teacher will teach Spanish language courses through the AP-level. Candidates must have native or near-native fluency in Spanish.
Essential Functions
The ideal candidate will be:
● prepared to teach all levels of Spanish, from beginner through Advanced Placement-level courses
● focused on student-centered inquiry, meeting the needs of each student and framing the use of Spanish real-world scenarios
● an educator who inspires a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and innovation by sharing their passion for their subject with their students
● committed to developing in all Kents Hill students the kinds of sophisticated problem-solving and critical-thinking strategies needed for success beyond secondary education
● able to authentically engage learners in problems that extend beyond the walls of the classroom
● culturally competent with skills for engaging with and learning from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences
● passionate about the pursuit of their own personal growth through professional development
● enthusiastic about contributing to a shared culture of high expectations and continuous growth– for students, colleagues, and yourself
● All candidates seeking a full-time role will be committed to the boarding school student experience and excited to engage with students both inside and outside of the classroom. Typically, this includes:
○ residing in campus housing and engaging in all facets of residential life
○ advising a group of students
○ involvement in afternoon and extracurricular activities
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
● experience teaching their subject-matter at all levels, Introductory to Advanced Placement, in a high school setting
● excellent written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills
● the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and external partners
